HEART NYC Sex Talk Book Club
Thank you for your interest in the Sex Talk Book Club!

We will be reading and discussing “The Sex Talk: A Muslims Guide to Healthy Sex and Relationships.” The book serves as an introduction to talking about sex, reproductive health, and relationships in a Muslim context. The advice offered inside goes beyond first-time sex and covers topics relevant whether you’re having sex or not. Grounded in Islamic and feminist scholarship, this book goes beyond white-centric and abstinence-only approaches to sex ed and helps readers explore their faith, values, and bodies.

Our book club is supported by HEART, and we intend to uphold the organization’s values and visions in our space. We plan to center the experiences of Muslims of marginalized identities (including marginalized sexualities, genders, access needs, races, ethnicities, class status, Islamic traditions). We also commit to creating a space that is judgment-free, safe, and affirming for this group.

We plan to meet virtually once a week on Mondays at 6 PM EST for 6 sessions from mid January—early March. We will share exact meeting dates once we have coordinated availability of all participants.

We would love for you to join us! If you are interested, please fill out this RSVP form. Please reach out to book club leads, Maryam (khanmar70@gmail.com) and Anqa (anqakhan2016@gmail.com), with any questions!
